Companionship
Companionship has been proven to extend the life of a senior who can't easily get out. Knowing someone cares about them gives them something to look forward to as well as good conversation stimulates their brain. Companions visit isolated and homebound elders for conversation, reading, and light errands. Most Senior Centers offer companionship/friendly visiting programs or Homecare companies. Animals also provide good companionship (see Pet Therapy). Of course you must consider their ability to care of it and who might take the animal if something was to happen.
