Driving Safely
Many seniors continue to drive into their 90's but most of us begin to have losses in our reflexes, hearing, sight and memory in our 80's. If you have concern about your loved one driving take a ride with them to see exactly their abilities. Repeat that ride every couple of months. Use our Safe Senior Driving test under checklists. If there is a question about their safety there are services that will do a complete evaluation to thoroughly understand their visual limitations, hearing impairments, mobility, reflexes and cognitive abilities as well as give them a road test. Often there are adaptative devices to improve their driving but times they will recommend that the senior is no longer safe driving. Remember the Bureau of Motor Vehicles only tests eye site and it's really so much more than being able to see. See Safe Driving Checklist. Share:
