Veteran's Benefits
Veterans have benefits such as Veterans Hospital care, discount prescriptions, physician visits, special Geriatric Care services and more. Through the Geriatric Care Program veteran's may qualify to receive
- Geriatric Evaluation & Management
- Respite benefits to relieve the caregiver
- Adult Day Care
- Adult Foster Care
- Community Health Nurse Coordinators
- Hospice and Palliative Care
- In-Home Primary care if needed
- Dementia Care
- Residential Care if no family available to help
Retired veteran's have additional benefits. Social Security also provides some additional resources for veterans on limited incomes. Veteran's requiring assistance with daily living activities like dressing, bathing, meals, toileting, ambulating may qualify for Aid and Attendance Benefits to help pay for additional assistance either in your home, an assisted living or a nursing home.
If the deceased was a veteran who received a discharge other than dishonorable, survivors may get $300 toward funeral expenses and $150 for burial costs. Burial in a national cemetery is free to a veteran, spouse, and dependent children. Veterans are also eligible for a headstone or grave marker.
